Poetry Friday

My son received a mini stamper with a frog on it with his preschool Valentine’s Day goodies. He has been stamping that lil green frog on all the boxes, papers, and magazines he can find. So I found this funny frog poem to read to him and will also share it with you.

My Frog is a Frog by Jack Prelutsky

That frog poem is adorable.

My mom was a florist for 25 years. Every month she'd put a display on the front porch. She paper mached giant ants invading a picnic in August. She placed a man on a ladder so he could hang stars in the sky around Christmas. But my favorite was in June, when a mannequin bride stood out front with a giant stuffed frog perched next to her.

Men looked so confused as they entered the shop. But every woman walked in, cracking up, saying, "You gotta kiss a lotta frogs!"

I'm sending her your frog poem. She'll love it!

Suzanne-That is too cute! Your mom sounds so creative. My daughter seriously kissed a frog last year to see if it would turn into a prince!
Kim-Feel better!!

Cute poem! I like the title as much as the poem itself.

My kids used to stamp those things all over themselves :)

Great poem! What is it about kids and stamps? My son has been stamp obsessed for the past month! Everyone who comes to our house now has to get their hand stamped - I feel like a bouncer.

Cute frog poem :^)
My son's 4th grade class uses frogs for their class mascot. I'll have to send that to his teacher...

Oh wow Kelly! How funny! Nathan has been sick for a few days and what's weird is that he's totally lost his voice. We keep calling him Froggy from the Little Rascals. Anyway, I have a write on/wipe off board I use for school and each day I write the date and draw some sort of picture on it. Today I drew Nathan with a little green frog in his throat. The frog was saying, "Get me out of here!"

Talk about a coincidence or what!

Kelly, thanks for posting a Prelutsky poem--always fun. We had a frog party for my daughter when she was about your son's age, and I wish I'd known about this poem then--it would have been a fun addition to the day! But DS(4) is suddenly noticing frogs, and the Museum of Science in Boston has a new exhibit of Rainforest frogs, so we may yet get to put that poem to good use!
