Tune for Tuesday

I haven't done a true tune for Tuesday lately, and this song has been popping up on the radio a lot. When I first heard it, I pulled my car into the garage and sat there in the dark so I could listen to the whole song. I thought it was mesmerizing. Then I heard who sang it. It totally shocked me.

My beautiful song was sung by this group.
Photobucket
Slipknot.
My 10 year old headbanger of a son likes a few Slipknot songs (he's only heard ones that are appropriate for his age, okay somewhat appropriate, like Psychosocial), but even though I like hard rock, I never got into them. Though I think they are growing on me.
This one is beautiful.

The video is Creepy with a capital C, then a little Psycho-ish ( the movie) confusing at the end, but intriguing all the way through.
This is called "Snuff."

Here's a shorter version of the song that shows the poetic lyrics.

It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it. Yes, I do.

They look a little scary - but only a little ;)

Creepy.

Totally scary to me. I prefer plaid and denim and glasses and Ben.

I love it when heavy metal bands sing slow songs that really showcase their voice instead of them just screaming. Those are the best.

Kim- Even so, think I might be a little nervous to go to one of their concerts.
Christina- Definitely a creepy video, and the masks....
Jonathon- What? You don't like masks with long needles sticking out of it?! It freaks me out a little. ;) But it really is a great song!
Laura- I agree. I was shocked when I heard the artist!

I didn't watch the video (I'm scared)--but listened. Cool. Keep these coming, Kelly. The last thing I need is to be one of those totally uncool moms who doesn't listen to new fangled music. You know, the stuff those young whipper-snappers play on the radio these days. ;) Although, I have this weird idea that U2 never gets old or uncool... So maybe I'll be fine.

Although the music and lyrics are...good (poetic) it was too creepy for me. There's also a lot of angst, something I am eternally grateful not to be torn apart by.

I'm too mellow for that stuff. I'm Collective Soul, Modest Mouse, Kings of Leon, Third Eye Blind, you know, the mainstream crap.

Heather - U2 will always be cool!
Bish- I agree, the song is beautiful, but sad. I'm glad I'm not angsty either!
Jon- I LOVE Third Eye Blind! I've seen them live twice. Kings of Leon are pretty darn good too!

U2 is always cool...I just so want them to come out with something innovative...I've been waiting for ten years.

Totally got caught up in the first video. WOW!

Oops! Forgot to ask. Do you know the character actor's name that plays the night clerk? Love him.

I'm with Laura on the vocals. I like the upfront vocals. And the creepy, well I usually like that kind of thing. I'm kinda into dark in most cases. Totally into plaid and glasses! Not so much masks with pointy noses.

I have to admit that the song is pretty good, but that video? UGH!

Kelly said...

Jon- I do like their older stuff better, but they still pack the concert arenas!
Elana- But scarier (and a better voice)!
Lee- the actor is Malcolm McDowell (I had to look it up!), he's in a lot of movies!
Tina- Yeah, the masks are a little different. I like live music and seeing masks would take away from the experience I think. and make me run away scared.
Carrie - I actually thought the video was well done. Creepy, but well done.

Yikes, girl, how can you listen to this stuff? The picture scares me too much to even click on the links? I am such a wimp!

Excellent word choices here...I kept wondering if in the notebook (or whatever they wrote the song in) if they spelled all the words correctly. There's a piece of mountain out my kitchen window that looks like Gene Simmons...I've been meaning to take a photo for you, but it looks best with a little snow, so it'll have to wait til next wk.

They need a hug or their mommys didnt love them enough. Im going to go hug Bryan right now

Kelly said...

Donna- That's funny!
Denise- Way.
Rena- I like to give all rock a try at least. This group is seriously growing on me!
Anita- They use fairly simple language, but it is put together just right. I wish as a poet, I could use cheat (not exact) rhymes like they do in lyrics. I'd love to see the Gene Simmons mountain! :)
Rhonda - Give him a hug for me, too! Josh wants a Slipknot mask for Halloween now.

Quite creepy! My husband LOVES them and has quite a few of their CD's!

How funny when you never imagine the people that sing that song you love would look like this! One thing I can say is that they are totally not boring. Gotta' give 'em credit for creativity!

You have a little goodie on my blog today!
