Why Top 7 and not 11? Because I care about you and your time. I'm a giver, people.

Breaking Dawn Part One (I didn't love Eclipse movie, but this was better, especially ending)
The Change Up
Christmas Vacation with my kids for the first time
Elf for the umpteenth time
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 (sniff...)
Horrible Bosses
Can you tell I love comedies or book adaptations?!
Also, thank you to Sherrie Peterson for the A Great and Terrible Beauty book I won at her blog. Plus I won Wildefire at Literary Rambles from Natalie and Casey! Thanks, ladies! What a wonderful way to start the year.
What are your faves of 2011?
Here's one of my fave songs of 2011 by MCR (I've already posted my first two faves on the blog at some point). "If my velocity starts to make you sweat, then just don't let go..."

You're a rockin' chick, Kelly!
My list goes up tomorrow. Yeah, I'm a little late as well.

Happy New Year! Great list of books. I really loved LEGEND, DIVERGENT, and a whole lot more. Hard to narrow it down.

Kelly Polark said...

Alex - Yeah, I thought I'd be in a routine by now! Not yet! :)
Sheri- It's morning! :)
Natalie- I've heard awesome things about Legend and Divergent too!

All- Anyone else having trouble with formatting on the blog? I had the post spaced out better, but it ended up like this?! Plus I wasn't able to link halfway through... Anyone else having problems? Thanks!

Kelly, you're such a sweetie! I'm so glad you liked my book and it was so great meeting you! :)

Horrible Bosses was hilarious! My ribs hurt after watching that! :)

Great list of faves. I'll have to think over my highlights - but I also loved Horrible Bosses, and Elf of course!

Kelly Polark said...

Hilary - It was great meeting you too! I hope Anderson's has that event again!
Shannon- I haven't read any of your picks! Will jot them down for my TBR! Thanks!
Adrienne - Elf is still funny even after seeing it so many times!

Bish Denham said...

I really enjoyed When You Reach Me and Nightshade City as well. As for movies, I didn't go to the theater once last year. And as for music...I'm a hopelessly oldie goldie girl. Or jazz.

Nicole Zoltack said...

I really loved Possession too. One of my favorite movies was Thor. I was surprised by how much I liked it.

Lydia Kang said...

You're too cool. I need to borrow some of that. :)

Christina Farley said...

I just loved that picture! Yeah for a new year!

Stina Lindenblatt said...

I read Liar Society. I have Untraceable and Forever, but still have to read them.

HP2 was the only movie on the list I saw. I almost saw BD1, but my hubby and I decided to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But after one scene, we decided we should have seen BD1 instead (even if my husband didn't like T and NM).

julie fedderson said...

Oh, yeah! These are awesome lists, especially the music. And LMFAO is one of my guilty poppy pleasures.

Angela Ackerman said...

I know one of my favorite reads was Daughter of Smoke and Bone by laini Taylor. Oh my, what a book!

I hope you had a great year and that this one is even better!

Cynthia Chapman Willis said...

Great picks! It's hard for me to narrow down to my favorite songs and movies, but Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Chime were two of my favorite reads of 2011.

Lindsay N. Currie said...

LOL both of my boys read and LOVED the STrange Case of Origami Yoda also. I haven't read it yet, but read Peter Nimble and ADORED it. Happy New Year Kelly!!

Kelly Polark said...

Bish - Wow! Not once! I usually only go a few times, but last year I went to more than usual.
Nicole - I'm sure my husband will want to watch Thor on DVD!
Lydia - I actually have quite a geekariffic side!
Christina - Hope it is a great one for you!
Stina - I do want to read Girl with DT soon and see the movie. It's on my very long TBR list...
Julie - It is the catchiest tune ever! And it reminds me of my Florida trip with my girlfriends.
Angela- I have not read that one yet, but heard wonderful things about it!
Cynthia - Second person to mention Daughter of S&B...will definitely have to put that on my list!
Lindsay- I want to read Peter Nimble too! Everyone loves it!

Wow great lists!!! EEEE--such pressure. :-))

I'll just mention that I love Florence and the Machine and Adele to get me through my writing days!

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

You mentioned a lot of my favorite books and movies. Elf has to be one of my favorite movies...every year!

Tina Laurel Lee said...

Happy new year!

Peggy Eddleman said...

LOVED your lists!! Those were a lot of really fabulous books. And movies. And songs. And Happy New Year!

cleemckenzie said...

I have one devil of a time sorting out my favorites in any category. Each book I read, each song I hear, each movie I see either has something for me and I get involved, or it doesn't. I have managed to create three columns that serve as my way to tell people what I think: Love, So-So, Arg!

You are much better at this rating thing than I am.

LTM said...

LOL! You're so funny. I didn't make a list, but I did enjoy LMFAO in the music section, and I want to read several of the books on your tops list! Movies? Bridesmaids, HP, but hey! No Crazy, Stupid Love??? :D <3

Missed Periods said...

Well done. I am thinking about my 2011 faves and am realizing that my memory is so terrible I can't even remember what I did last year. (It could be the wine I had at dinner.)

TerryLynnJohnson said...

I laughed so hard at Horrible Bosses. Surprisingly good!

Kelly Polark said...

Sam- You are my kind of gal!
Marcia - Noted!
Christina - Adele is awesome.
Sharon - I adore Buddy the Elf. Adore him.
Happy New Year to you, Tina!
Peggy - I agree. I went to more movies in the theater this year than in the last five years total!
Lee - I like your rating scale! And to keep track of what I read and watch, I have a 2012 word file!
LTM- Can you believe I haven't seen Crazy Stupid Love yet??!
Missed P- Create a word file like me! (and I realized I forgot to write a book I read and loved on it and so it didn't make the list! Argh)
Terry- My hubby and I liked it too! I liked the cast as well!

Marisa Hopkins said...

oooh, I'm going to take some of your reads and add them to my list!! Idk how I haven't read Forever by Maggie S yet, but I am currently reading The Scorpio Races and I LOVE it!

Hope you're having a great new year!!

Rena said...

I love how you picked just seven. Great post. It's fun to think back and find the good things that happened in the previous year. Too often we focus only on the bad.

Nas Dean said...

Great list! Rocking!!!

Susan Fields said...

Ooh, you ask hard questions! My favorite book this year was probably Divergent, with The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer a close second.

Horrible Bosses was classic! Great show. I admit I "sniffed" at the end of HP as this was the last of an awesome series. And Elf, yeah, I lost count of the times I've watched it.

ali cross said...

Fun meme! (and the guy's back isn't hard to look at either)

I love ELF. I even watch it mid-year if I need a pick-me-up!

Lynda R Young said...

I LOVE your list of songs!
Overall a fabbo list. It's clear I need to read more books hehe

Jade Hart said...

Great list :)
I'd say my fav book of 2011 was Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and my fav tv show would be Downton Abbey! :)
I'm a new follower and look forward to your future posts ;)

When you Reach Me was excellent. Also loved On Writing. For movies, my favorite this year was Midnight in Paris. For music, I'm downloading stuff so often, but I don't pay attention to when it comes out.

Theresa Milstein said...

I thought of a song I loved in 2011 - The Black Keys Tighten Up.

Ray Veen said...

You're awesome, Kelly. So energetic and enthusiastic. That's really the main thing I'm taking away from this blog post. Hope life's been treating you well.
